We are finally back from San Angelo. Much thanks to Kate and Dave
for putting up with us for so long. I'm so glad we didn't have to be here
during the hurricane. We had a nice time away from home on a spur of
the moment "vacation". We were ready to get home though. I will
be going outside shortly to clean up our yard, it's pretty much a mess
We also need one of our big pine trees trimmed. We are very lucky we
had no roof damage. But, the huge limbs that are about 20-30 feet
high have snapped and are on the verge of falling onto our driveway, so
we can't part in our driveway in fear of a branch falling on one of our
cars. A lot of our neighbors have roof damage and water damage. We
didn't get any pics from San Angelo. These pics are some that are from
a month or so ago that were stuck on my camera. Hope everyone is
having a good week. Take care.

Hurricane Ike
Hello to all who occasionally visit this blog.
I just wanted to take a quick moment to let you all know that Erin and the girls and I have gotten out of Houston while the hurricane is passing through. As of right now, we are in San Angelo, Texas staying with our friends Dave and Katie Reed. As we watched the storm come in, we decided that discretion would be the better part of valor and imposed ourselves on our west texas friends.
We will be watching and waiting to see and hear what the situation back at home is, and we are hoping that we'll be able to head back to Houston no later than Monday (that's me being the eternal optimist there).
In the meantime, we will be taking in the Tech game with Dave and his family and letting the girls explore the wonders of West Texas for a few days.

Well, we all made it through the first day of school. Madelyn was very excited to start school, she didn't cry or anything. She did tell us the night before that she was nervous, but that quickly passed. Olivia, on the other hand, wasn't too sure about the whole thing. She at first, seemed like she was going to do ok, then she told me she wanted to go home and tried to run out of the classroom. She then started crying, actually, crying is an understatement it was more like screaming. I was upset for her, but I didn't let her see that. Jake and I just kissed her and said goodbye, she wasn't happy but that only lasted for about 1 minute. She settled down quickly. Of course, we had to peek back in to make sure. When I got back to pick them up I went to get Olivia first and she was sitting on the potty, after her nap time. I was impressed. He teacher also told me that she went on the potty all day. Then for the biggest surprise, she actually went poopy on the potty last night, that was such a huge step for her. I was sooooo happy and I let her know it. She is such a big girl, I can see it now, I think we are almost done changing diapers. Olivia will only wear one at night. I never thought this day would come.
